Any substance, condition, flux or organisms that alters the aquatic ecosystem or organisms in the lakes, or is likely to do so.  Stressors may be physical, chemical, or biological.  Stressors may adversely affect specific natural resources, entire ecosystems, or aquatic species of plants and animals.  GLEAM focuses on adverse effects, but we recognize that some stressors can also have some positive effects.
